Auto Expo 2010 is over with a promise to bring more hope and sensation to the Indian automotive vehicle industries and green transportation technology. With the launch of new cars from major auto companies such as TATA, Toyota etc, and revolutionary new design trucks from TATA, Mahindra and Ashok Leyland, this year’s auto expo was biggest of all time in terms of no. of visitors and total no. of participating companies. Around 2100 companies from 30 countries demonstrated their products. This year’s theme was “mobility for all”. Several new concepts from designing houses and institutions such as School of Planning and Architecture, National institute of design, and Dilip Chabariya’s designing firm were appreciable. In auto expo 2010 a few of world’s leading firms in field of automotive research and development, demonstrated their sophisticated under research products. One of them was HONDA’s ASIMO and Personal mobility device. On an average this event received footsteps of more than a lakh of visitors per day.
Two members from our blogging team visited this event on 10-1-2010. For any reason if you missed this event, you can still browse through the photos captured by us from this link.
world AIDS day, campaign, 2009
Someone has said it right that “truth is stranger than fiction”. The truth behind our HIV- AIDS awareness campaign on day before was, we just want to promote our blog by showing that we are also involve in some social works. We arranged for some posters, red ribbons and put them at our college notice board along with our blog’s advertisement. We also posted a report on AIDS and HIV by just making a copy paste editing from Wikipedia and other sites. At the time of all this work we were not seriously concerned about HIV or AIDS. But the stranger part behind this simple truth is, we have started this campaign without any expectation, but this campaign became a big hit. The box containing the red ribbons which we had put along with awareness posters was empty just within half an hour from opening of college gate. We saw students wearing the red ribbon with proud and with a commitment that they will acquire the knowledge about this epidemic disease before removing that red ribbon. This whole thing forced us to rethink about our strategies. After this all we were eagerly searching for more information about AIDS, its awareness, government initiative and campaigns etc. we want to motivate others to participate in some social works, on the contrary our own event realized us that we should handle social issues very seriously.
World AIDS Day is just around the corner, a time to reflect on the global epidemic and to consider the best way to move forward. What will you be doing on December 1st? learn more about this year’s World AIDS Day theme of universal access and human rights.
World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. It is common to hold memorials to honor persons who have died from HIV/AIDS on this day. Government and health officials also observe the event, often with speeches or forums on the AIDS topics. Since 1995, the President of the United States has made an official proclamation on World AIDS Day. Governments of other nations have followed suit and issued similar announcements.
AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007, and an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007, of which about 270,000 were children.
Unlike developed countries, India lacks the scientific laboratories, research facilities, equipment, and medical personnel to deal with an AIDS epidemic. In addition, factors such as cultural taboos against discussion of sexual practices, poor coordination between local health authorities and their communities, widespread poverty and malnutrition, and a lack of capacity to test and store blood would severely hinder the ability of the Government to control AIDS if the disease did become widespread.

An Autonomous Robotics Workshop was conducted on 24th & 25th of Sep, 2009 in association with MITBOTS. MITBOTS, promoted by TECHNOCRACY IIT DELHI, is the national robotics champions team. They have specialization in the field of robotics and have trained around 5,000 technical students from all over the INDIA. The workshop was the stepping stone to ‘Indian Robotics League’ which is the biggest ever robotics competition being held in India. It is the rare and the wonderful opportunity to win prizes worth 20 lacs along with internship in US or Singapore. This extensive workshop was basically for beginners with the objective of encouraging them to enter into the world of robotics.
The team of MITBOTS conducting the workshop was headed by Mr. Ashish Goel. He discussed emerging technologies in the field of advanced electronics such as embedded systems, autonomous robotics and advance sensing technologies. He also made students work on specially designed kits and construct wired robots, Line Follower and Object Chaser. On the last day of workshop Mr. Ankit gave students the basic idea about Microcontrollers. The Workshop was attended by over 100 students from all branches in 1st,2nd and 3rd year of Dr.K.N.Modi Institute of Engg. and Technology and KNGD Engg. College.
The students actively participated in the competition based on the idea of covering the shortest distsance between six random points made on 3X3 cordinate system. The distance covering those six points was completed in just 19 seconds.
The winning team candidates are from 2nd year ECE branch namely:
Dhruvendra Sharma
Nitin Verma
Anuj Narang
Dharmedra Verma
Prashant Kumar
They were felicitated by Prof. R.K. Agarwal, Director of Dr.KNMIET on 4th of November, 2009.
The ESS Coordinators are:
